Electrodeionization is a water treatment process that removes ionizable species from liquids, using electrically active media and an electrical potential to effect ion transport. It differs from other water purification technologies, such as conventional ion exchange in that, it does not require the use of chemicals such as acid and caustic. EDI is commonly used as a polishing process to further deionize Reverse Osmosis (RO) permeate to multi-megaohmcm quality water. DunaTec company group has became a qualified partner with an american electrodeionizator manufacturer in 2008 which officially authorises us to plan, build and install electrodeionization systems in Hungary.
The system has a modular construction, so we are able to install the most optimal system which meets 100% our customer’s requirements. According to the task we can deliver the equipments for cold or warm water, with normal or triclamp sockets.

For suitable function of an EDI system the feed water has to be treated with a reverse osmosis equipment. For a long life time CO2, Cl2 and O3 removals are recommended. Providing a suitable function circumstances our equipments ensure even 18 megaohmcm resistance high purity water with 5-6 year lifetime.

The benefits of the system:
  • Simple operation
  • Costeffective
  • Compact system
  • No concentrate recirculation
  • Even 18 megaohmcm resistance permeat
  • No regeneration chemicals
  • Modular construction, equipment with different capacity
  • Parallel building enables to provide up to 200 m3/h high purity water
  • Minimal maintenance cost

High purity waters for laboratories

Zapwater™ EDI modules are designed for small countertop or wallmount laboratory water deionization products, which produce ASTM Type I & II, or JIS A2 & A3 water.
Our customers can expand their existing laboratory RO/DI product lines to include an EDI product. Zapwater™ modules can produce 10 liters per hour given a high quality pretreated RO feed. The module will produce over 6 Megaohm water at 77% recovery. Typical quality will be 10-15 Megaohmcm depending on feed water quality. A high-quality DC switching power supply, shipped with the module, provides the voltage and current needed to drive the EDI process. The module is compact at 25 cm height by 7 cm width.
